About NCWA Adviser Training Project
National Council of Women of Australia committed to Adviser Training as a major activity for 2006-2007 and was fortunate to receive a grant under the Australian Government Women's Leadership Development, Capacity Building Grants Programme. The purpose of the grant is to strengthen the capacity of NCWA to contribute to public policy development:
- A model on-line training program is being established for NCWA pro bono advisers, to improve collation and dissemination of information relevant to the organizations working with & for Australian women.
- The NCWA website has been enhanced so as to link advisers/coordinators and other NCW members with relevant sites including the Women’s Portal and to inform the wider community of progress of NCWA policy development.
- A face-to-face training day was held on October 5 2006 in Melbourne on the eve of the NCWA Triennial Conference. The Training Day exercises focussed in part on the topic of Obesity, a significant health issue for Australian women.
