Projects

The National Council of Women is a non-sectarian, non-party political, volunteer organization. With the assistance of its national network of Standing Committees in the areas of Communication, General Well Being, Social Issues, Status of Women and Sustainable Development, NCWA works to address issues of concern to all women and their families and acts as a voice or agent of communication on an Australia wide basis.

National Board of NCWA is committed to these projects:

45 Years on: What now in Contraceptives

This booklet includes information about recent research, articles by Professor Gab Kovacs, and Dr Neisha Wratten and a piece by Dr Terri Foran on the history of contraceptives. Available nationally through Terry White Chemists and through participating GPs.

Adviser Training Project

This project running between May 2006 and May 2007 is designed to strengthen the capacity of NCWA to contribute to the development of public policy. With the assistance of a grant from the Australian Government’s Women’s Leadership and Development Programme, members of NCWA will have access to new web site developments, e.lists and on-line training and to participate in a face-to-face training day.

History of NCWA 1931-2006

At the 2003 Triennial Conference held in Perth, Western Australia it was moved that: NCWA publish a history of the organisation to celebrate its 75th Anniversary in 2006, and that NCWA take immediate action to seek sponsorship for that purpose. If you would like to contribute to this project either by donation or answering the History Questionnaire, please do so.
