National Council of Women SA Documentary – Flinders University Film Makers Final Cut – Community Voices Program

NCWSA Documentary - woman from when it started until now

In 2021, the National Council of Women SA was successful in our application for the Community Voices Program. A collaboration between the SA Government Department of Human Services and Flinders University Screen Production, the Community Voices Program partners Flinders filmmaking students and community organisations in the production of short documentaries and online video ads that recruit, promote and celebrate volunteers in South Australia.

The program sees students working independently and collaborating with real-life clients to deliver videos to help make a difference. Community organisations use the videos to promote their business, fundraise, recruit volunteers and raise general awareness about the work they do in the wider community.

Alina and Kris interviewed members, learned about our incredible affiliated organisations and their community work, reviewed historical items and reports on decades past as well as taken a strong interest in the current advocacy work of the Council in order to bring our story to life.

We have received the finished ~4-minute documentary:

Please feel free to share and play this film with your organisations / networks.

This film seeks to honour each and every member organisation and individual member who has joined over the past 120 years and thus supported, believed in and inspired us over our long history.

I thank all members, delegates and organisations for your support, advice and look forward to continuing to speak up and make change together in 2022 and beyond.

We particularly thank film-makers Alina and Kris from Flinders University for their expertise, patience, energy and skill in bringing this together. We are so grateful to you.

And, thank you to Dr Tom Young, Senior Lecturer Creative Arts Honours Coordinator Flinders University, for your support and coordination with organisations for this project.

With gratitude,
