NCWA President appointed to the Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce

NCWA President Chiou See Anderson has been appointed to the Federal Government’s inaugural Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce.

The Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce will provide independent advice to the Government on a broad range of issues facing women in Australia, including to inform the development of a National Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality.

The Taskforce, which was a commitment in the recent election campaign, will include eminent women from various backgrounds, experiences, and expertise.

“ It is a great honour to be able to play a role in shaping our gender policies to align them with global best practices. My contribution to the Taskforce is only as good as the collective input from our members.“ said President Anderson.
Other taskforce members are Sam Mostyn AO, Current President of Chief Executive Women, Business Council of Australia chief executive Jennifer Westacott, ACTU president Michele O’Neil, former Labor minister Jenny Macklin, Grattan Institute chief executive Danielle Wood, University of Sydney professor Rae Cooper, Tasmania’s Council of Social Services head Adrienne Picone, People with Disability Australia president Samantha Connor, coordinator of the Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group Shirleen Campbell, Sizol Fuyana from Fuyana Support and National Council of Single Mothers and their Children executive director Terese Edwards.

Minister for Women Katy Gallagher said the new taskforce would have an important advisory role feeding into the national gender equality strategy and employment white paper. “The collective experience and advice of these outstanding women will be crucial as the Albanese Government works to re-elevate Australia’s status as a leader on gender equality.

“The task force will be an important contributor, alongside other consultation and engagement pathways, in driving progress on gender equality and keeping women at the centre of government policy and decision making,” Senator Gallagher said.

We look to you for your continued engagement with NCWA so that President Anderson can successfully provide a national perspective to our equity endeavours.
